Learningthat doesn'tsit still

Twenty-plus hands-on activities on one property in Kroondal — go-karts, quad bikes, ice skating, high ropes and a classroom built entirely upside down. Park access is just R50 a person — then you only pay for what you play.

We built a parkfor the whole family

Ten Flags opened in 2019 with a simple frustration: a family day out in this country has become something you budget for, not something you decide on. Tickets for everyone, food you didn't want to buy, and a two-hour drive home with kids who saw a screen and nothing else. Every year since, we've added something new to the park.

So we built the opposite. Twenty-plus activities on one property outside Rustenburg, where park access is R50 a person — that gets you in the gate, onto the grounds, into the pools and next to a braai fire you light yourself. Bring your own meat, your own cooler box, your own folding chairs. Then choose what you actually want to do, and pay for only that.

It means a gogo can come along for R50 and spend the day watching her grandchildren instead of paying for rides she'll never go on. It means a family of five can eat properly without a restaurant bill. And it means the kids get a day they'll talk about for a month.

A day at Ten Flags

R50 in, R150 for a kids package

Park access from open to close, pools included, your own braai fire, and only the activities you actually want.

The same logic is why schools keep coming back — a bus, R50 a learner at the gate, and a day of activity that costs less than most excursions. And why companies book us for team building instead of a conference room: the fire, the karts and the scoreboard do the work that a facilitator usually charges for.

Active learning, disguised as a day out

Kids remember what their body did, not what a slide said. Every activity here has a real principle underneath it — force, friction, balance, nerve, teamwork — and the day is built so learners meet those ideas at speed, outdoors, with their friends.

It works on grown-ups too. Parents don't sit on a bench here holding bags. There are adult packages, a day spa, a restaurant and 45 rooms if the day runs long.

A go-kart is a lesson in momentum

Brake too late and the corner tells you why. Learners come off the track talking about grip, weight transfer and racing lines without anyone calling it revision.

Go-kartsBowlingMini golf

A classroom, built upside down

Desks on the ceiling, chairs overhead, the whole room inverted. It's the photo everyone takes home, and the easiest opening line for a conversation about gravity, orientation and how a point of view changes everything.

Upside-Down School

Falling over is part of the syllabus

Ice skates, a harness on the high ropes, a first go on a quad bike. Small, safe risks with a real adrenaline payoff, and a lot of getting back up.

School toursthat earn the bus fare

We run school groups as rotating flights rather than one long queue, so learners spend the day doing things instead of waiting. Grade-appropriate activity mixes, a printed run sheet for staff, and a debrief slot before the buses load.

01

Arrive & brief

Buses park free on site. Teachers get a printed run sheet, group colours and a headcount board before anyone moves.

02

Split into flights

Groups rotate through activity stations rather than queueing as one mass. Smaller groups, more turns per learner, less standing around.

03

Physics in motion

Go-karts and bowling become momentum, friction and angles. Learners record their own lap and pin times to compare afterwards.

04

The Upside-Down School

A full classroom built inverted. It's the day's best talking point and the easiest route into a conversation about perspective and gravity.

05

Eat, swim, debrief

Shisanyama and picnic areas, pool access included, then a closing circle before the buses load.

We spent a full day at Ten Flags and the kids are still buzzing. From ice skating to go-karts, quad bikes, paintball, and even the upside-down school — it truly has something for everyone. My youngest loved the bouncing zone, while the older one couldn't stop talking about karting.

Ten Flags is uniquely South African — whether you're gliding across an ice rink, navigating go-karts, exploring the upside-down school, or trying paintball, there's always something new. The bundles and deals make it affordable, and the chisanyama-style food is a highlight in itself.

If you're chasing thrills, Ten Flags delivers. The go-karts and quad bikes give just the right rush, and the paintball setup is fantastic. Add in camel rides and pellet shooting, and you've got a full day of variety. Great value for what you get.
